Pool paint doesn't fail overnight — it gives you signs. If you're seeing any of these, a repaint is likely the most cost-effective fix compared to ongoing patching or chemical overcorrection.

Chalky or powdery surface
Paint oxidised by UV and chemicals starts to chalk. You'll notice it on your hands after touching the walls.
Visible fading or discolouration
Patchy, washed-out colour means the top coat has broken down and is no longer protecting the shell.
Rough or peeling texture
Flaking or bubbling paint traps algae and makes the pool uncomfortable to use.
Stains that won't shift
Calcium scaling and mineral staining embed into a degraded paint surface and won't respond to normal treatment.
Ongoing algae problems
A porous or failing surface creates the perfect environment for algae to re-establish — even with correct chemistry.

Full pool drainage
We pump out and safely dispose of your pool water via the waste water line before any surface work begins.
Mechanical surface sanding
The entire pool shell is sanded and abraded to create a clean, profiled surface for the paint to bond to. This is the step that makes paint last — we don't skip it.
Pressure wash & acid etch
The surface is pressure washed then treated with hydrochloric acid to remove residual calcium deposits and ensure maximum adhesion.
Surface crack & chip repair
Any cracks, chips or hollow spots are filled with sand and cement render prior to painting. This is included in your quote.
Taping & paint preparation
Tiles, coping and fittings are masked before any paint is applied.
Three coats of APCO Poolkote Epoxy
We apply three full coats of APCO 2-Pack Epoxy pool paint — locally manufactured in Sydney, UV-stable, and chemically resistant. Pebblecrete surfaces receive a 4th and potentially 5th coat.
Controlled cure period
The freshly painted surface must remain dry and empty for 10–14 days after the final coat. We will not rush this step — premature refilling is one of the most common causes of early paint failure.
Refill oversight & chemistry rebalance
Once cured, you fill the pool via hose and we return to site to rebalance all water chemistry and confirm the pool is swim-ready. Budget ~$250 for restart chemicals, invoiced separately.
Completion documentation
You receive a completion report photographed at each stage and your 12-month workmanship warranty in writing.
Silica dust disclosure
Pool sanding generates silica dust, which requires full PPE for our team during the abrading process. We use dust-reduction methods throughout, but it is impossible to eliminate completely. We recommend keeping windows and doors adjacent to the pool closed on sanding days.

We use APCO Poolkote 2-Pack Epoxy — UV-stable, chemically resistant, and manufactured here in Sydney. The colours below are available for concrete, pebblecrete and marblite pools.
Because APCO Poolkote is a custom-manufactured 2-pack product, your colour choice must be confirmed at the time of paying your deposit. We bring physical colour cards to every inspection so you can see how each colour looks in your backyard before deciding.

The single biggest variable is the condition of your pool's surface. We'll give you a more precise timeline in your written quote after the inspection.
Drain & initial clean-out
Day 1We fully pump out your pool water to waste and remove all surface debris. This gives us clear access to inspect every centimetre of the shell — including areas never visible when the pool is full.
Surface sanding & abrading
Days 2–3The entire concrete surface is mechanically sanded and abraded to create a clean, profiled substrate. This is the most labour-intensive step — and the most important. Our team wears full respirators, gloves, eye and skin protection. We suggest keeping windows and doors closed on these days.
Pressure wash & acid etch
Day 3–4The abraded surface is pressure washed at high pressure, then treated with hydrochloric acid to neutralise calcium deposits and etch the surface for paint adhesion. After acid washing, the pool is thoroughly rinsed.
Surface crack & chip repair
Day 4Any cracks, chips or hollow spots identified during preparation are filled with sand and cement render and allowed to cure before painting begins. Minor repairs are included in your quote.
Taping & paint preparation
Day 5Tiles, coping, fittings and any surfaces not being painted are masked and protected before any paint is applied. This step is what keeps the finish looking clean and professional.

Days 5–8We apply three full coats of APCO 2-Pack Epoxy, allowing proper drying time between each coat. Pebblecrete surfaces receive a 4th and potentially 5th coat. We have budgeted 40 litres of paint — if more is required we'll notify you.
Cure period, refill & chemistry balance
Days 9–21The freshly painted surface must remain dry, empty, and unused for 10–14 days while the epoxy cures fully. At the end of the cure period, you fill the pool via hose. We return to rebalance all water chemistry and confirm your pool is swim-ready. Budget approximately $250 for startup chemicals, invoiced separately.
Project timelines are weather dependent. Works may be paused at our discretion in the event of rain, high humidity, or low temperatures — pool paint will not cure correctly in unsuitable conditions. We'll keep you updated throughout.

Pricing reflects the real cost of a properly prepared, three-coat epoxy repaint in Sydney. Quotes that come in significantly lower typically involve less surface preparation or fewer coats — both reduce the lifespan considerably. Startup chemicals (~$250) are budgeted separately.

0433 496 708A deposit of 60% is required before works commence — this is also when you confirm your colour choice. The remaining 40% is due upon application of the final coat. Quotes valid for 14 days.
